Project 3 - The Fabulous Friendship Club
The class will be writing paragraphs describing interesting places and activities where they live including information such as time zones, climate, land masses, location, environment, natural resources, and historical heritage. They will then post by E-mail to the homepage of the friendship club. The class put a brief history of our community on the Friendship Club Homepage during the 1997-1998 school year. In the 1998-1999 schoolyear we will look at the various places that have signed on and provide more material as needed for the project. My goals, curriculum connections, and resource connections will remain the same as the past year. GOALS:
This project will fit into our Language Arts, Social Studies, and Computer Studies programs. The children can tell somebody else where we are found in the world, use time zones, and learn about the global community. As part of their language program they will write, revise, edit, and prepare the documents to send to another class by E-mall. They will then publish on the homepage of the Fabulous Friendship Club so that students from other parts of the world can read this information. The intended learning outcomes of this project re: Technology Education are:
One of the main outcomes of this project will be to see how well the students can locate in an atlas or a world map, the various places. They can read about other cultures and thus get a better understanding of other parts of the world. It will provide the children the opportunity to travel to various parts of the world and help them realize the worth of their own community while seeing the value of others.
Summaries will be added as they become available.
