Project Overview
The grade seven social studies program is an extensive study of life in North
America. Through an exchange of information with other students living in
another part of this continent our students will learn to appreciate the
variety of life styles that exist from a social-economic, geographical and
historical perspective. A variety of topics will be addressed as they are
studied in accordance with our curriculum for the grade seven social studies
program. They include, weather and climate, consuming and producing goods,
government structures etc...
Goals
- Develop co-operative learning skills.
- Exposure to peer learning activity.
- Develop communication skills through use of
the Internet.
- Develop an understanding of and appreciation for
the variety of life styles that exist in our continent.
Curriculum Connections
In addition to the social studies curriculum, this project will be of benefit
in Language Arts as a communication, research and presentation skill
development technique.

grade 7 program

Evaluation
Through linking with a peer group to collaborate information gathered forms a
large part of evaluation. To observe the development of good research,
presentation and communication skills is a vital part as well. The knowledge
base of our continent and its people that should come about as a result of this
project should prove a valuable learning experience for all participants.
