  Project Overview

This grade four class is corresponding with a class in Legal, Alberta, taught by Ms. Beaudoin and Ms. Roulston. Becoming a Stellar School will allow us to send and receive pictures and information that can be shared by the whole class. The class will have their own homepage to which they will post items regularly. All students will be involved with the technology as well benefiting from the shared information.

  Curriculum Connections

Language Arts - Reading and Writing.

Technology - Computer, e-mail, Internet, digital camera, scanner.

Social Studies - Exchange of information about Geography, History, Culture.

Mathematics - Computation of time differences, distances.

Science - Comparison of weather, wildlife, plants, trees.

Technology Education Outcome

• An understanding and working knowledge of on-line communications and limitations.
• Practice with real life communication problems.
• Hands-on experience with up-to-date technology, such as, scanner, digital camera, communications software, local area network, and computer.
• An opportunity to see how information technology is used.
• Provide a basis for comparison of various types of communication.
• Development of a technological vocabulary and familiarity with the language of information technology.
• Using technology to collaborate with other people at a distance.

  Evaluation

The new knowledge in subject areas such as Social Studies will be incorporated into the evaluation of those subjects.

The project's success will be evident in the enhanced capabilities of the students and in their willingness to expand their new skills into other subjects and projects.

Teachers, as well as students, will be more technologically competent and their teaching will be enhanced. Increased use of technology in teaching will be further proof of the value and success of the project.
