Project 2: Writers' Network
The project is designed to take advantage of the Writers' Network for the students doing Advanced Writing 3103. This is a creative writing course which has, as a major component, the sharing of ideas and finished writing project. The opportunity to do this is limited within the classroom. The Writers' Network will expose the students to a much wider audience as well as enable them to read the works of students from across the province.
Advanced Writing 3103 aims to develop a student's writing skills through sharing with other students his/her ideas and writing projects. It is hoped that this interplay will enable the student to develop their own writing skills as well as see value in their writings as they are appreciated by others. Increasing the size of the audience and thereby the number of interactions can only enhance this aim. Confidence in one's writing must have a positive effect on any writing that a student will do for other teachers. Interacting with other students through the Internet should make this technology seem less cold. Students should be able to see it as a wonderful means of reaching out to others that they would never have had the chance to meet. There is a limited access to the Internet in Herdman. This project will provide a level of interaction with other students that would simply have been impossible.
