  Project Overview

The Mundy Pond area is rich in history. Our Community Online will be an informative website focusing on the community of Mundy Pond. This project will focus on every aspect of community life: education, recreation, religion, business, public services and the environment. Students will research and publish information on the above topics. Our Community Online will be a valuable, informative resource for every member of the community.

  Learning Outcomes

At the end of the project students will:

  • be aware and use the many print and non-print avenues and sources (Internet, documentaries, interviews) through which information can be accessed and selected.

  • acquire some exposure to the various technologies used for communicating to a variety of audiences for a range of purposes (videos, e-mail, word processing, audio tapes)
  •  
  • collect information from several sources (interviews, film, CD-ROMs, Internet, texts) and combine ideas in communication.
  •  
  • share what they have learned, discovered, and created with a variety of audiences through the internet
  •  
  • work collectively to produce a web site
  •  
  • apply the skills of the writing process

  Resource Connections

A Stellar School internet connection will enable the public to access an informative resource. It will also provide our students with valuable research, writing and publishing skills that they will need in this media oriented world. Students will have ample opportunities to seek out other resources to be utilized :

  • texts
  • CD's
  • Resource Centre
  • Community Resources ( interviews, archives etc.)

  Evaluation

  • students will be able to use a variety of communication technologies and tools

  • students will be able to use a programming language (HTML), as a means of control of simple technological processes and tools

  • use communication tools to access, evaluate, and to create, modify and disseminate information.

  • The website will be evaluated by the response the students receive to the project. This may be in the form of electronic, verbal or written feedback from people who visit their site.
